2012 is going to be an enormous year for the United Kingdom. There are obviously the Olympic Games that is going to be held in the summer, and before that we’ve got the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee. It was originally set to occur on the Whitsun Bank Holiday, however it will now be postponed up until the very first Monday in June. This is simply because there will be a four day bank holiday granted to the whole of the country, which a lot of people will be thankful for. There’s a lot of pros and cons to this though, of course there’s the fact that it’s going to have an impact on some businesses as they would not have been planning to offer the extra day off however it will definitely be welcomed by staff.
The one thing this means is that you could have an extra couple of days on your holidays. You could have booked a city break to somewhere similar to London with the family, or maybe you’re more of a winter sun person? If you are then you might have booked a couple of short ski holidays close to this time. In case you have then this news will probably be welcomed by you and your families because it means you will get an extra day off work either to get over your holiday in time for work, or even take an extra day off and spend that little extra time on your holidays with the family!
There’s undoubtedly going to be plenty of travel news on the radio and tv during this time period, and people who are in the big towns who’re travelling to different places in the country could find that traffic comes to a standstill. This tends to happen at places like The Lake District, so if you’re thinking about heading up there then you should look at heading off as soon as possible to avoid just about any disappointment!
